An attempt to murder a young man has been made in the Ghonpara area of Panchpukur union in Nilphamari Sadar upazila due to enmity. The accused are Ansar Ali’s son Md. Manjel Islam, Chhole Mamud’s son Anakul, and Chhole Mahmud’s son Md. Aminur Rahman’s son Rawshan Ali of the same area.
The deceased’s uncle Md. Rafiqul Islam has filed a case in this regard at Nilphamari Sadar Police Station. Even after 19 days of the case, the accused have not been arrested. In this regard, the villagers and the family members of the deceased have demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
They have alleged that the accused are threatening to kill their entire family one by one if the case is not withdrawn.
According to the complaint, Rafiqul Islam’s son Shahjalal was going to the duck farm past Ansar Ali’s house last Sunday morning (March 16). On the way, Manjel Islam, Chhole Mamud and Anakul blocked his path and started beating him indiscriminately. At one point, they tried to kill him by tying a bicycle chain around his neck. Locals came to rescue him and admitted him to Nilphamari General Hospital after he screamed. Later, he was threatened in various ways.
The next morning, Rawshan Ali was feeding the ducks at his duck farm, when Anakul and Manjel came and beat him up and tried to stab him in the stomach with a sharp knife. Locals came to rescue him and admitted him to Nilphamari General Hospital.
Some local residents, who did not want to be named, said that Rawshan’s duck farm is located behind Ansar Ali’s house and their cultivated land is next to each other. They had a previous dispute over land, which led to this incident.
In this regard, Rafiqul Islam said, “We respect the law. So we had previously taken legal action regarding land, but they tried to kill our family. Now they are threatening to kill all our members. I want them to be arrested quickly so that we can live safely.”
In this regard, Mujibur Rahman’s son Md. Golam Rabbani said, “After the incident, they tried to kill us, I want them to be punished appropriately, so that they cannot commit such incidents in the future.”
Attempts were made to speak to Manjel, Anakul and Chhole Mamud in this regard, but they could not be found at their homes.
Officer-in-charge of Nilphamari Sadar Police Station MR Sayeed said, “A case has been registered at the police station regarding the attempt to kill Rawshan Ali and the accused will be arrested quickly and legal action will be taken.”
