Wife and daughter-in-law strangled to death, husband absconding

A husband has been accused of killing his wife and daughter-in-law in Kasba, Brahmanbaria. The killer, Samiul, fled after the incident. The incident took place sometime on Sunday night in Dhajanagar village of Gopinathpur union of Kasba upazila.

The deceased are Samiul’s wife Juti (25) and her sister Smriti (14). They are the daughters of the late Hossain Bhuiyan of Dhajanagar village of Gopinathpur union of the upazila.

It is believed that they were strangled to death due to a family dispute. The killer, Amir Hossain Samiul, fled immediately after the incident.

Police said that Samiul came to visit his in-laws’ house a week ago. After dinner on Sunday, they went to sleep. Later, he strangled them to death sometime in the night. On Monday morning, when the family members informed the police, they went and recovered their bodies from inside the house.

Abdul Quader, officer-in-charge of Kasba Police Station, said that the work of preparing the post-mortem report of the deceased is underway. The body will be sent to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
