Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Natore. Two more were injured in the incident. The accident occurred at around 4:30 pm on Friday in the city’s Banbelgharia bypass area.
The deceased Babu Hossain (40) is the son of Ahad Ali of Harigacha area of Natore Sadar Upazila, and the police are working to identify the other person. The injured have been rescued and admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital.
Natore Jhalmalia Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam said that on Friday afternoon, an auto-rickshaw driver was going from Rajshahi to Natore with passengers. And a passenger bus named Rabbi was going from Sirajganj to Rajshahi. At that time, when the CNG-powered auto-rickshaw reached the Banbelgharia bypass area of the city’s Natore-Rajshahi highway, the passenger bus collided head-on with the CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. One of the auto-rickshaw passengers died on the spot.
Upon receiving the information, the Natore Fire Service rescued 3 passengers from the scene in serious condition and admitted them to Natore Modern Sadar Hospital. Another passenger died after being taken there. One of the remaining two injured is in critical condition. He was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
After the incident, the bus driver and his assistant fled. The police have seized the deadly bus from the scene.
