The tripartite discussions between workers and employers on the amendment of the labor law have been completed, said Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment. He said that the law will be amended soon, protecting the interests of the workers.
The advisor said this at a briefing organized at the meeting room of the Ministry of Shipping on the occasion of May Day on Wednesday (April 30) morning.
He said that the International Labor Organization also has several observations on the amendment of the law. This amendment will be made after reviewing all.
The advisor said that the current government wants to reduce the distance between employers, workers and the government. Work is also underway on this.
Various programs have been organized across the country on the occasion of this May Day. A May Day rally will start in front of the National Parliament Building at 8 am today. Later, a discussion program will be held at the China Friendship Conference Center. The slogan of this May Day is ‘Workers and employers united, let’s build this country anew’.
