Starlink officially launches in Bangladesh

Starlink, the world-renowned satellite-based internet service provider, has officially launched its journey in Bangladesh.

The matter was confirmed on the company’s X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday (May 20) morning. Earlier, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, confirmed that the matter was informed through a phone call on Monday (May 19).

He said, “Starlink has officially launched its journey in Bangladesh. They informed me about the matter over a phone call on Monday afternoon. They confirmed the matter on their X handle on Tuesday morning.

The Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor also said that Starlink is initially starting with two packages – Starlink Residence and Residence Lite. The monthly cost is 6,000 taka and the other is 4,200 taka. However, there will be a one-time cost of 42,000 taka for the setup equipment. There is no speed and data limit here. Individuals can use unlimited data with speeds up to 300 Mbps.

Faiz Ahmed Tayyab said that customers in Bangladesh can place orders from today. Through this, the expectation of Sir (Chief Advisor) at the beginning of the journey within 90 days has been realized.

He also said that although it is expensive, it has created a sustainable alternative for premium customers to get high-quality and high-speed internet services. In addition, companies will get the opportunity to expand their business in areas where fiber or high-speed internet services have not yet reached, NGOs, freelancers and entrepreneurs will get the assurance of uninterrupted high-speed internet throughout the year. He also commented that the Chief Advisor congratulated everyone concerned on this matter.

It is worth noting that by starting the journey in Bangladesh, Starlink has entered a new market in South Asia. This has opened up new horizons for high-speed internet services even in remote areas of the country.
