The hanging body of a policeman named Shamim Hossain (30) has been recovered from the Joynagar police checkpost barracks in Darshan, Chuadanga.
Police recovered his body from a room in the police barracks adjacent to the checkpost at around 10 am today (April 18).
The deceased policeman Shamim is a resident of Hashem Ali of Jhutiadanga village in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia. He is the son of Hashem Ali of that village.
Police and colleagues said that Shamim Hossain had been living in a room on the second floor of the new immigration building for the past 6 months since he joined. When some colleagues went to inquire about Shamim Hossain’s absence from work at around 8:30 am on Friday, they found him hanging from a fan. Later, the matter was reported to higher officials.
Chuadanga Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Kanak Kumar Das said that Shamim’s body has been recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. His family members have already been informed. It is initially believed that he committed suicide. However, he said that an investigation is underway to uncover the cause of the incident.
