The election of the central president and nomination of the secretary general for the 2025 session of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has been completed. Zahidul Islam has been elected as the central president through online voting by members from all over the country. Nurul Islam Saddam has been nominated as the secretary general.
On Tuesday (December 31), the names of the newly elected central president were announced at the closing session of the central members’ conference of Chhatra Shibir at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital under the chairmanship of Assistant Election Commissioner and former central president Selim Uddin and Chief Election Commissioner and former central president Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand. After the name announcement, the Chief Election Commissioner of Chhatra Shibir administered the oath to the newly elected central president.
Voting for the central president election was held simultaneously online across the country from 7 pm on December 29 to 8 pm on December 30, 2024. According to the constitution of Chhatra Shibir, the central president nominated Nurul Islam as the secretary general for the 2024 session in consultation with the executive council.
The newly elected central president has previously served as secretary general, central office secretary, central literary secretary, central publication secretary, central international secretary, central debate secretary, Narayanganj metropolitan president and Jagannath University president.
He completed his Honours and Masters in the English Department from Jagannath University. He is currently pursuing his MBA in the HRM Department at a private university.
The newly appointed Secretary General Nurul Islam has previously served as the Central Office Secretary, Central Literature Secretary, Central Planning and Development Secretary, Central Education Secretary and Khulna Metropolitan President.
He completed his Honours and Masters in the Economics Department from Khulna University. He is currently pursuing his Masters in the HRM Department at Dhaka University.
