Popular small screen actress Mehjabeen Chowdhury started her journey in cinema with ‘Priya Malti’. The film has already been praised and awarded at various international film festivals. This time, ‘Priya Malti’ has also been awarded in the country.
While accepting the award at an award ceremony held on Saturday evening for ‘Priya Malti’, Mehjabeen said, ‘I feel that my destiny has opened up after marriage.’
The actress received a pair of awards at this year’s ceremony. ‘Priya Malti’ won the award for Best Film (Full-length Story/Film). The film requires her husband Adnan Al Rajib and producer Shankh Dasgupta.
However, producer Adnan Al Rajib could not come to the ceremony as he was at the Cannes Film Festival in France to screen another film, ‘Ali.’ Therefore, Mehjabeen took to the stage with the producer and co-producer.
This popular actress of the small screen also won the Best Actress award for ‘Priya Malti’ in both the critics and star poll categories. Mehjabeen, who was elated at receiving the double award, said, ‘I have been receiving this award for so many years because of your love. It feels even better to receive it for “Priya Malti”. Because there should be more stories like “Priya Malti”.’
Calling for the production of more women-led films, the actress said, ‘There will be all kinds of stories in the industry, all kinds of films will be made, but women-led stories about women should be given special importance. It can be seen that women-led stories mean a story of struggle or a bit of an art film; that is the idea of everyone. The industry is changing, the style of storytelling is also changing; we should welcome this change.’
