Israeli attack on hospital in Gaza, 50 killed

At least seven Palestinians were killed in a massive Israeli bombardment of the “safe zone” of al-Mawasi in the southern Gaza Strip, setting fire to several tents, bringing the total number of deaths in Israeli strikes in the past 24 hours to 50 in various parts of Gaza.

The Gaza Health Ministry said that at least 45,259 Palestinians have been killed and 107,627 injured in the ongoing Israeli offensive since October 7 last year.

A video verified by Al Jazeera’s Sanad agency showed rescue workers arriving at the scene of the Israeli attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp to find a horrific scene. Two bodies were seen being eaten by cats. Local sources said that Israeli forces had long obstructed rescue efforts.

In addition, the Israeli military is attacking one of the only functioning hospitals in Gaza. They have ordered the immediate evacuation of patients, but local doctors say this is almost impossible.

“Our hospital has about 400 civilians, including newborns who are dependent on oxygen and incubators. It is almost impossible to evacuate the hospital in this situation,” said Kamal Adwan, the director of the hospital.

The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has expressed concern over the “excessive attacks” by Israel over the past 24 hours, saying attacks on schools and hospitals have become a routine occurrence.
