Ishraq has no chance to take oath as term ends: Advisor Asif

Local Government Ministry Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that since the term of the City Corporation has expired and the term of the oath has also expired according to the Election Commission’s gazette, BNP leader Ishraq Hossain has no legal opportunity to take oath as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation.

He said this while talking to reporters at the Secretariat today, Wednesday.

The Local Government Advisor said that 45 percent of the South City Corporation’s citizen services have been stopped. There is a fear that the entire citizen service will collapse due to the impasse caused by Ishraq Hossain.

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that Ishraq Hossain has broken the law. This is being done with political motives. BNP’s party intervention is necessary to overcome this situation.

He said, “We want to maintain the cordial relationship that has been established in politics through a meeting between the chief advisor and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.” “I hope BNP will take appropriate initiatives to resolve the complications arising from the mayor’s issue.”
