Iran had previously claimed to have shot down two Israeli warplanes. Now, the Iranian army has claimed to have destroyed another Israeli US-made F-35 fighter jet. According to Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera,
The country’s state news agency IRNA reported, citing the army’s public relations department, that the new aircraft was shot down in the western region of the country. The media outlet reported that the pilot ejected from the jet, but his current condition is not known.
Earlier, Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee denied the claim of losing their warplanes in the Iranian attack. He also claimed that Iranian media was publishing false news.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army said that seven of its soldiers were injured in the Iranian missile attack. They were taken to hospital and released again. This is the first casualty of the Israeli military since the final conflict between the two countries began.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said nine Iranian nuclear scientists were killed in its airstrikes. Earlier, the Israeli military said it had killed six people during its initial strikes against Iran.
An Israeli military official also said the strikes had significantly damaged the Isfahan and Natanz nuclear facilities. The official told Reuters that more than 150 Iranian targets had been hit. However, most of the drones and missiles fired at Israel were intercepted.
