A woman was killed by slitting her throat due to a family dispute in Erandah village of Salanga police station in Sirajganj. After the incident, the husband Motaleb Hossain himself attempted suicide. The deceased Rozina Khatun (24) is the daughter of Abdul Aziz of the village.
Police recovered her slit body on Thursday (June 12) morning. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Salanga police station Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter.
The deceased’s cousin Zahid Hasan said that Rozina and Motaleb fell in love and got married three years ago. Motaleb’s family did not accept the marriage, as a result of which he was living in his in-laws’ house. Motaleb returned home from Feni six days ago after completing his masonry work. Since then, a family dispute has arisen between them.
After an argument late on Wednesday night, both of them fell asleep. At around 2:30 am, Rozina’s nephew Bayazid heard the sound of crying from the next room and looked out the window to see Rozina’s bloody body lying on the bed with her throat slit and her husband Motaleb lying next to her in a bloody state. Later, on hearing her screams, the neighbors rushed to break the door and recovered the body and took the injured Motaleb to the hospital.
The injured Motaleb Hossain was first shifted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital and later to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra. He is currently undergoing treatment there.
Salanga Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir said that the body of a woman with her throat slit was recovered in the Erandah area of Salanga Police Station. The body has been sent to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy. A detailed investigation into the incident is underway.
