Home Affairs Advisor issues stern warning over ‘mob justice’ during Nurul Huda’s detention

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the mob justice that was used during the arrest of former Election Commissioner Nurul Huda is not desirable. At the same time, he also warned that legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident after investigating it.

He said these things in response to questions from journalists after visiting the Mouchake Horticulture Center in Kaliakoir, Gazipur this Monday morning.

The Home Affairs Advisor said, “The news that was published yesterday about the arrest of former Chief Election Commissioner Habibul Awal is not correct. He has not been arrested yet.”

However, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that former Chief Election Commissioner Nurul Huda has been arrested from Uttara. He said, “The mob justice that was done during his arrest is not desirable. If any law enforcement personnel are involved in such incidents in the presence of law enforcement, legal action will be taken after investigating it.”

At this time, the advisor said that the Agricultural Land Protection Act is being enacted to prevent the encroachment of agricultural land, and said that the production of domestic fruits along with foreign fruits should be increased so that these fruits are not lost.

The advisor visited different areas of the Horticulture Center and spoke to the officers and employees and gave various directions.

During the inspection, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Nafisa Arefin, Superintendent of Police Dr. Chowdhury Jaber Sadek, Horticulture Center’s Enamul Haque, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Rafiqul Islam Khan, Kaliakair Upazila Executive Officer Kausar Ahmed and senior officials of the police and agriculture ministry were present.
