A child named Nazia Akhter Laboni (8) has been accused of strangling to death in Enayetpur, Sirajganj. Police have arrested the child’s grandmother Lal Banu (60) in this incident. The incident took place at the house of the deceased Shukur Ali Sarkar of Laboni’s Nana Brahmangram on Friday night.
On Saturday afternoon, the deceased’s father Nahid Alam filed a murder case against his wife and mother-in-law, including unknown persons. The child’s father, Nahid Alam of Patisar village in Atrai upazila of Naoga district, was working in Dhaka. She was studying in the nursery at the local Khwaja Yunus Ali English Medium School with her mother Nargis Khatun.
According to the child’s family and the case, Laboni has been studying at her maternal grandparents’ house for about 3 years. Her father lives in Dhaka due to his job and her mother is mentally unstable, so Laboni has been living with her mother at her maternal grandparents’ house for the past 3-4 months. However, sometimes the grandmother would physically torture her over trivial incidents. In addition, the deceased’s grandfather Abdus Salam Pramanik has alleged that even if the father gave her money for expenses, he would not give it to his daughter.
Labani’s father Nahid Alam said in this regard, my daughter was killed in a planned manner. The elder girl, like a flower, was brutally killed by the perverts by beating, strangling and suffocating her. I want the death penalty for those involved.
In this regard, Enayetpur Police Station OC Anayarul Islam said that injury marks were found on the head and neck of the body. The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. A case has been filed and legal action will be taken.a
