Government to appoint university vice-chancellors through newspaper advertisements

The vice-chancellors of the country’s public universities will be appointed by advertising in newspapers, said CR Abrar, advisor to the Ministry of Education of the interim government. He said this while exchanging views with journalists at the Secretariat today, Wednesday.

The education advisor said, “Due to various inconsistencies in the appointment of vice-chancellors, we have created a board to appoint vice-chancellors. We will advertise in newspapers for the election of vice-chancellors. Those interested will apply. After that, the qualified vice-chancellors will be appointed through a proper process.”

CR Abrar said, “Bangladesh is now standing at a crossroads in the education system. We want technology to be used in such a way that students from remote areas also benefit. We want to build a system where teachers get professional status. We want to create a salary system so that they get a respectable salary.”

He said, “The online transfer process of teachers at the college level is being started from next July. We want a transparent transfer process. “Everyone, including students, teachers, and journalists, must come forward to complete these tasks.”
