Stating that all organs of the state have become politicized and corrupt, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, “Corruption and partyization have destroyed all the constitutional institutions of the state. These must be reformed. The government should take whatever time it takes for these reforms. If elections are held without reforms, those elections will not be acceptable, national liberation will not come and those elections will give birth to another fascism.”
He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the Rukon Education Camp organized at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Jessore city at 11 am today, Saturday.
Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, “After the reforms, the trial of criminals against humanity must be visible. Time cannot be fixed for the trial. That is why we do not want to put pressure by setting a date. We fear that if it does not happen this time, then a political government may disrupt these reforms and the trial of criminals against humanity.”
The Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami said, “We have wanted the local government elections earlier. Because, all the programs of the local government are now in the hands of government officials. In this, they are getting opportunities for corruption, personality worship, nepotism and embezzlement. The current government is an interim government. We consider this government neutral.’
‘Therefore, if elections are held during the tenure of any political government, we fear that they may forcefully use muscle power and black money to show the power and influence of the government at all levels of the local government elections and take out members, chairman, mayors and all their people. That is why we have been demanding local government elections during the interim government,’ said this leader.
He also said, ‘We are demanding proportional elections. This is a good method for fair elections. In this election, people will vote for the party, not the individual. When the individual is not a candidate, when the individual does not have interests, the risk of using black money and muscle power is reduced, and the election is likely to be fair.’
Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, ‘The party will get proportional seats in the 300-seat parliament in proportion to the votes cast. Therefore, we are ready to go to the elections when the government can hold elections after completing the proportional representation system, local elections, trials of criminals against humanity and necessary reforms.
Noting that 54 years of independence have passed, the Jamaat leader said, “Many countries that became independent much later than us have developed a lot. But we have not yet been able to achieve national unity in the interest of the country and the nation. There is a conspiracy to divide the nation by bringing up quarrels, divisions, debates, disunity and many unresolved and unnecessary issues of the past. Those conspirators must be defeated in this election.”
District Ameer Professor Golam Rasul presided over the function. Central Working Committee member Maulana Azizur Rahman spoke as a special guest.
Present at the time were – District Jamaat Naib-e-Ameer Maulana Habibur Rahman, Secretary Principal Abu Zafar, Assistant Secretaries Golam Quddus, Belal Hossain, Working Committee Member Advocate Gazi Enamul Haque, Assistant Secretary Professor Monirul Islam, etc. Rukons from different upazilas of the district participated in the education camp.
