Popular singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel was arrested on May 20 on charges of rape and assault. Police arrested him from his residence in the Demra Staff Quarters in connection with the rape case of Eden College student Israt Jahan Priya. Then, on June 18, the court ordered Nobel to marry the plaintiff in the case. The next day, their marriage was completed under the supervision of the prison authorities at Keraniganj Central Jail. And today, Tuesday, the singer’s bail was granted in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahabub.
Earlier, Nobel entered the court in a happy mood under tight security. Shortly after, his wife Israt Jahan Priya arrived. They chatted happily for a while. Then, when the court proceedings began, the judge called Priya to the plaintiff’s dock.
At that time, the judge asked Nobel’s wife Priya, do you have any objection to the bail? She said, no. Later, the lawyers of both sides also said that the case was filed due to a misunderstanding. Now the matter has been resolved.
Then the police went to take Nobel back to the custody from the court. Nobel was walking holding Priya’s hand the entire time. He also took Priya with him while getting into the court elevator. Shortly after this, Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahabub announced the bail order.
Later, their lawyers spoke to the media personnel. They said that a new guest is going to come to their family soon. Therefore, Priya seeks prayers from everyone for a happy new life.
Meanwhile, according to prison sources, the dowry for Nobel-Priya’s marriage was set at 10 lakh taka. And witnesses from both families were present at the wedding, Nazma Hossain, Sabiha Tarin, Md. Khalilur Rahman and Md. Sadek Ullah Bhuiyan.
