Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said the EC is working with the national elections in mind, not local elections.
He said this in response to questions from journalists after the CEC’s view-exchange meeting with election officials at the Comilla Regional Election Officer’s office on Tuesday morning.
The Chief Election Commissioner said, “The major political parties have been demanding national elections from the very beginning. They have not talked about local government elections. Therefore, we are preparing for the national elections, not the local government elections. Hopefully, the voter list will be completed on March 2. Then, the voter list will be updated through various corrections and published. We are committed to the nation to hold a fair and acceptable election.”
