The Election Commission (EC) has written to four secretaries and chief engineers of two agencies to urgently inform them about the progress of renovation/repair of the facilities to be used as polling stations for the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. The letter was sent to them by EC Deputy Secretary Dewan Md. Sarwar Jahan on Monday. They have been asked to provide information in this regard by July 17.
The letter states that some educational institutions among the polling stations used in the previous National Parliament elections and potential polling stations for the upcoming National Parliament elections do not have boundaries or boundary walls and some educational institutions have doors and windows in dilapidated condition. Letters are being sent to the concerned ministries or departments to take necessary measures for renovation or repair at their own expense.
In this situation, information on the progress of renovation activities of the facilities to be used as polling stations for the upcoming National Parliament elections is particularly needed. The information was collected and requested to be sent to the Election Commission Secretariat by July 17.
The secretaries and chief engineers to whom the EC has sent letters are the Senior Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department, the Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, the Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Department, the Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) and the Chief Engineer of the Department of Education Engineering.
