The Coast Guard has arrested a drug dealer with 30,000 pieces of Yaba and firearms in Gahira, Chittagong. This information has been revealed by Coast Guard sources.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq confirmed this information.
He said that based on a secret tip-off, a special operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Base Chittagong at 4:30 am on Monday in the Gahira sea area under Anwara Police Station of Chittagong district.
During the operation, a suspicious wooden boat was searched in the area and a drug dealer, Md. Shawkat Ali (32), was arrested along with 1 country-made firearm, 3 rounds of live ammunition, 3 country-made weapons, 17,240 (seventeen thousand two hundred and forty) taka in cash and 30,000 pieces of Yaba worth 9 million taka. The arrested person is a resident of Anwara Police Station of Chittagong.
The subsequent legal action against the recovered illegal weapons, ammunition, Yaba, cash and the seized wooden boat and the person is under process.
He also said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been patrolling 24 hours a day to maintain the law and order situation in the country.
Through which the law and order and drug control situation in the coastal and riverine areas under the jurisdiction of the Coast Guard has improved to a great extent. Such operations of the Coast Guard to prevent drug trafficking will continue in the future.
