Police have arrested an Awami League leader in a special operation in Badalgachi, Naogaon, in a case of explosives. The arrested leader is named Abu Khaled Bulu. He is the president of Badalgachi Upazila Awami League.
It is learned that on November 4, at around 7:30 pm, two cocktail explosions occurred in front of the main gate of the government primary school at a place called Gobarchapa Hat in the upazila. In addition, the police recovered 6 unexploded cocktails. As a result, panic spread throughout the market.
Immediately after the incident, at around 8:30 pm that day, the leaders and activists of the Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations raised various slogans against the Awami League and demanded their justice.
Several BNP leaders and activists and local residents claimed that two microbuses were coming from the direction of Mithapur in the upazila that night. As soon as the microbus approached the government primary school, the sound of a cocktail explosion was suddenly heard. The cocktails were thrown from the microbus. They said that the slogan Joy Bangla was raised.
The day after the incident, a BNP leader named Belal Hossain Soukhin filed a case under the Explosives Act with the police station. No. 7. In the case, 40 leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations, along with 80-100 unknown people, were named as accused.
OC (Investigation) Saiful Islam said that the arrested Abu Khaled was the accused in the explosives case filed at the Bulu police station. In view of that case, the police conducted a special operation last night on Monday night. During this time, he was arrested from his own house. He will be sent to court on Tuesday.
