The Anti -Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a raid on the Department of Agriculture Extension in Madaripur on charges of irregularities in setting up a rain meter of about two crore.
Assistant Director of the ACC district office on Tuesday (June 5th). The operation was led by Akhteruzzaman. Later they visited the architects of Rain Gauters in several unions.
According to the ACC, one out of the three unions in Madaripur was set up in Madaripur to give three -day weather message to the farmers in advance. This rain yard, which is funded by the World Bank, has disappeared from many places. All the equipment has been wasted somewhere.
Due to the lack of supervision and irregularities in setting up of Tk 2 crore, the project did not work for the farmers. The raid was carried out through the ACC Madaripur district office in response to the allegations of marginal farmers.
During the operation, the necessary information was sought by Santosh Chand Chandra, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture Extension. He could not show any papers. He said that the papers were to be shown in time. Later, the ACC members visited the rain meter in some unions of Mustafapur, Ghatmazhi, Kalkini in Sadar upazila.

He added, “All the instruments in the district are now disadvantaged. Marginal farmers have demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible for the incident. Action will be taken if the allegations are proved.”
