The government has formed a committee to investigate the incident of publishing an intimate video of newly appointed OSD Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Ashraf Uddin with a woman. The Ministry of Public Administration formed the committee on Sunday with Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed as the convener.
According to the notification issued on Monday, Joint Secretary of the Discipline-2 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration Md. Nurul Haque has been appointed as a member of the committee and a representative not below the Joint Secretary of the District and Field Administration Sub-Division of the Cabinet Division has been given the responsibility of member secretary in the committee.
The notification said that the committee has been formed to verify the truth of Ashraf Uddin’s disciplinary behavior. The committee has been asked to properly investigate the matter and submit a report with its opinion to the Ministry of Public Administration.
Last Friday, pictures and videos of Shariatpur DC Mohammad Ashraf Uddin with a woman were published. Expatriate journalist Jawad Nirjhar posted the objectionable photo of DC Ashraf on his personal Facebook ID and page and the video on Telegram. The photo and a video of the same incident went viral in an instant.
Jawad Nirjhar wrote in the Facebook caption, ‘Shariatpur DC Md. Ashraf Uddin. A public figure. He took these photos himself with pleasure. He made the video. He showed her the dream of marriage in the photo. Now he is threatening her without getting married. A little bit of the story of taking her in his lap is given in the comments on the Telegram channel.’
In the 57-second video posted on Telegram, it is seen that Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashraf Uddin’s shirt is unbuttoned. He is kissing a woman wearing a red-yellow dress with her bare chest.
In the middle of the video, Deputy Commissioner Ashraf Uddin is seen showing the woman his private parts while on a mobile video call.
After this video went viral, the government made DC Mohammad Ashraf Uddin OSD last Saturday.
