Police have arrested a housewife in Tarash, Sirajganj, on charges of trying to kill a child named Meghla Khatun (9) by smothering her with a pillow due to a previous enmity.
The incident took place today, Sunday (June 22) at 12 noon in Kumallu village of the upazila.
Tarash Police Station OC Investigation Mr. Rupu Kar confirmed the incident and said that after receiving a call from the emergency services 999, the police went to the spot and, based on the complaint of the victim’s family, arrested the housewife Moshammat Umaya Khatun alias Fateh and brought her to the police station. The victim and the accused housewife’s families live side by side in the same village.
Meghla Khatun’s father Md. Munsur Ali said that due to her previous enmity, the wife of neighbor Nazmul Haque found my daughter alone and tried to kill her by smothering her with a pillow. At that time, hearing her moans, other neighbors went to the spot and caught her by the hand. Later, when they called 999, the police reached the spot and took Umaya Khatun Fateh to the police station after listening to the statements of the witnesses present. We are preparing a case in this incident.
On the other hand, Nazmul Haque said, this is a completely fabricated conspiracy. They have fabricated such a fictitious incident due to past enmity.
In this regard, Tarash Police Station OC (Investigation) Mr. Roop Kar said, the accused housewife has been brought to the police station. If a case is filed on behalf of the victim, we will take legal action.
