Tehran has announced the use of the powerful Khyber Sheqan missile in the Iran-Israel war. This information was revealed by a report by Qatar-based media outlet Al-Jazeera.
Citing Iran’s official news agency Mehr News, they said that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has fired the sophisticated Khyber Sheqan missile at Israel for the first time.
As Israeli attacks continue to target Iran’s nuclear facilities, military installations and residential buildings, Iran has also indicated that it is now deploying its most advanced missile, the Khyber Sheqan, as part of retaliatory measures.
Citing Israeli media, Tasnim News Agency reported that Iran fired about 30 missiles at various targets in Haifa and Tel Aviv on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the US attack. They claimed that the attacks were carried out while Iran was in the middle of diplomatic talks.
Al Jazeera gave some information about this sophisticated missile:
* This medium-range ballistic missile was developed by the IRGC
* Unveiled in 2022, it is believed to be the heaviest weapon in Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal.
* This missile is capable of traveling an estimated 1,450 kilometers
* The missile is also known as the Khorramshahr-4. The name comes from the Iranian city of Khorramshahr, which witnessed intense fighting during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s.
