At least four F-35 fighter jets have left the Royal Air Force Lakenheath base in eastern England in the early hours of Wednesday, amid fears that the United States could become “directly involved” in the Iran-Israel conflict, the BBC reported.
The jets were accompanied by a fuel tanker, the report said. B-2 Spirit bombers, which can strike Iranian underground facilities, are also said to be stationed at a base in the Indian Ocean, 4,000 kilometers from Iran. The BBC said that at least 30 US military aircraft have been moved from the United States to bases in Spain, Scotland and England in the past three days. It is not yet known for sure whether these aircraft were taken to Europe due to the Iran-Israel conflict. On the other hand, sources from the BBC’s US partner CBS News say that the United States may join Israel in attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities. In such a situation, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said early Wednesday that Iran will not negotiate with the Zionists. A post from Khamenei’s profile on social media X mentioned that the Zionists will not be shown any mercy.
This is the first time he has commented on Ali Khamenei’s position since Donald Trump’s statement on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Israel and Iran continue to attack each other. Iran launched several missile attacks on Tel Aviv early Wednesday morning.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps IRGC said that they used hypersonic Fateh One missiles in Wednesday’s attack on Tel Aviv. Before the attack, they asked Tel Aviv residents to evacuate.
The Israeli Defense Forces IDF also claimed on Tuesday night that they had attacked several Iranian missile bases.
